Building what moves money.
Robert Vashisth is a fintech and banking technology executive who has spent more than fifteen years building the infrastructure that moves money: core ledgers, payment rails, and the compliance machinery that holds them together. His work spans electronic money and money service businesses, crypto–fiat on- and off-ramps, mobile wallets, and correspondent banking — in mature markets and, increasingly, in the emerging economies where payment systems are still being written from scratch.
He works at the point where three disciplines meet. The first is ledger architecture: multi-currency, multi-wallet account structures for retail and institutional clients, with pooled and safeguarding accounts, balance and limit logic, fee engines, FX handling, and end-of-day reconciliation against bank statements and scheme reports. The second is rails: ACH, wires, card networks, SEPA-style credit transfers, mobile-money and airtime-backed value, and digital assets — orchestrated with routing rules, retry and fallback logic, and transparent fee treatment. The third is regulation. Rather than bolting compliance on at the end, he designs KYC, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, tiering, and audit trails directly into the transaction flow, where banking partners and regulators expect to find them.
That approach runs through the ventures he has founded and led. At Fermion Electronic Money, he designed the financial and technical architecture for a multi-rail platform combining electronic money, payment processing, and crypto exchange — defining the wallet and ledger structures behind multi-currency balances, fiat on- and off-ramp, and reconciliation with safeguarding and settlement accounts at partner institutions, alongside onboarding and transaction-review flows built for MSB and EMI licensing regimes.
At Dakson, he conceived and architected a social payment and wallet platform supporting peer-to-peer transfers, group payments, and merchant payments on a core banking–style ledger, including the account model, settlement logic between user wallets and sponsor bank accounts, and the APIs and operational processes covering issuance, top-up, cash-in and cash-out, and disputes. Across both platforms he has applied Interledger Protocol concepts to model cross-ledger transfers between internal wallets, correspondent accounts, and external networks — routing, quoting, and escrow designs intended to reduce settlement risk and free up working capital across heterogeneous rails.
Earlier ventures pushed the same ideas into different markets. GlobalMate built a mobile wallet business on airtime as stored value — patent-pending technology, with cash-in and cash-out, agent-network flows, and reconciliation processes modelled on the mobile-money and e-money systems banks and telecoms run across emerging markets. As Managing Partner on partner bank initiatives at GTI, he leads technology and product strategy for digital accounts, payment processing, and cross-border settlement, working directly with banking executives and compliance teams to keep product roadmaps aligned with risk and regulatory frameworks without losing commercial viability. Much of that work is unglamorous by design: the harder problem is rarely the transaction itself, but the liquidity, prefunding, and oversight arrangements standing behind it.
His career began outside financial services, which shaped how he builds inside it. He co-founded Intelisum, developing LiDAR-based software and data-capture devices, then Tridex Solutions, where he raised $14 million in venture capital and delivered data-intensive spatial systems across Australia, Africa, the United States, and India. As CEO of YayServices, he built a technology-enabled call centre from zero to $3.5 million in revenue in two years, serving 35,000 customers with 130 staff. Earlier still, he designed applications for clinical trials and military systems, including top-secret-cleared work on critical databases.
He is a named inventor on patents covering 3-D spatial data visualisation and measurement, GPS-enhanced capture and co-registration of virtual site models, and golf-green putt prediction. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University, an MBA, and certifications in applications design, transportation management, and from the EPA.
